Our Story

Turning Leaf Editorial was founded in 2007 by Caren Churchbuilder, who began her educational publishing career in 1998.

After working at Steck-Vaughn and later McGraw Hill, where she managed large-scale K–12 assessment programs and editorial teams, she set out to build an editorial company of her own—named for the large maple tree outside her office window.

What began with one editor has grown into a nationwide network of experienced educational publishing professionals.

Today, Turning Leaf specializes in K–12 assessment with particular expertise in English language arts.

Beyond assessment, Turning Leaf provides curriculum content development as well as copyediting, fact checking, and other
editorial services.

Nearly 20 years later, Turning Leaf continues to bring experienced editorial teams to projects of every size, with a focus on quality, reliability, and the needs of each client.
